"Now let's define great portraiture. It makes companionable for you a person who is identified or unknown, perhaps remote from you in geography or time (even dead, no matter), different from you in ways big or small, a lot or only the littlest bit like you in other ways, and, all in all, another exceedingly specific inhabitant of a certain planet, amid everything that cannot help but be." - excerpted from, The New Yorker, September 23, 2019, Beheld, Amy Sherald's Portraits, Peter Schjeldahl

The works for the exhibition will be chosen by independent curator, Laura Horne. Horne is currently a researcher at FreedmanArt, New York and was the Co-Director of Christopher Cutts Gallery, Toronto for a decade before relocating to Manhattan. Horne has recently curated a number of exhibitions for Tussle Projects and is the co-founder of Tussle Magazine. Horne is also an artist and has recently had work included in group exhibitions at Jason McCoy Gallery, New York and Season Gallery, Seattle.

Please note there is no fee to apply. Only artists selected will be notified by February 20, 2021. Please email any questions to Laura Horne at tussleprojects@gmail.com.
